Carrie is a poet, photographer, and teacher. She has spent most of her life running from poetry, but it has finally caught up to her.

Carrie George is a poetry MFA candidate at the Northeast Ohio MFA program (NEOMFA). She is the Graduate Fellow for the Wick Poetry Center, where she teaches poetry in community settings. She holds a BS in journalism from Kent State University.

She studied abroad three times, visiting countries including China, Italy, and Costa Rica. She has also traveled domestically for conferences such as The Association of Writers and Writing Programs (AWP), to document events such as Groundhog Day in Punxutawney, Pennsylvania, and to meet industry professionals such as Pete Souza in Washington D.C.

Carrie has photographed for clients including the Female Filmmakers Initiative, Destination Imagination, Visit Harford, local county council candidate Patti Parker, Major League Photos at The Ripken Experience, and The Harford Center.

Carrie has taught poetry in the Kent City school district and worked for other organizations and clients including More Than A Body, Main Street Ravenna, Lit Youngstown, IBH Addiction Recovery, and Miller Community House.

More than anything, Carrie is grateful for all the generous artists and teachers who gave her room to grow. She wants to spend her life bringing poetry and art to the communities around her.
